Re: We need some testimonials

Hi:
I have been involved in the development of the new forum system for the intranet of my company. Indra , which is the name of my company, is the leading IT and Defense Company in Spain with more than 6500 employees.

At the begining of the project we had to decided among some Open Source tools and I have to say that the decision we took was completely right.

The first step was to migrate the information from our former forum system (JIVE) to the mvnforum database. We made this using PL/SQL script and some months later we find out that there is a functionality already implemented in the system to perform this process. Incredible!!!.

Now the mvnforum is working fine in an Oracle database with more than 20 forums, 10000 users,5000 threads, 27000 posts and 150 attachment files.

We have developed some modifications to the original mvnForum system to adjust it to the requirements of our company:

We changed the login process not allowing the access to the login page. The user information is got from the intranet system of the the company and used to login in mvnforum.

The mail service to send watches has been changed to adjust it to a common library used in the intranet aplicacion of the company as well as the the mail templates.

The main development has been the search engine. We don't use the functionalities provided by mvnforum instead of them we have installed an Autonomy system which indexes the mvnforum database and the attachment files.

New pages have been developed using Java Faces to connect the application with Autonomy.

On the other hand the jsp pages and style sheets have been modified to ajust it to the graphical line of the company and some new pages have been developed like the tree view of threads.
The way of attach files have changed as well. We allow to attach more than one in the same page files. A new property has been included in the configuration files to not allow the attachment of some file extensions (js,mp3, videos...)

The application has been deployed in a Weblogic server with cluster system. The static content (css, js and images) is stored in a Microsoft Information Server.

What I would like to say is that the architecture of the system is very clear and the application has been designed using the J2EE patterns recommended by Sun. That allows to make modifications or include new functionalities without many problems.

To end with, I would like to thank the people of MvnForum for their wondeful software and I will recommend this tool in each project we have to use a forum system.

These are some screenshoots of the application:

Re: We need some testimonials

Dear All,

I have done several mvnforum installations for intranets and on my site on internet and had no problems with it. It is realy great and my boss loves it :-)

I use mvnforum for collaborative software development issues on:

http://www.pomegranate.de:9000/cms/forum/index

I have installed mvnforum inside my cms software (OpenCMS) an would like to provide a ASP Service for it, as I do with OpenCMS:

Thank you very much for this great collaborative software!

Best Regards,

Hello
Excellent work on this Open source Forum project. We're using it in my company and find it very useful for collaborating among various groups.
Forum management capabilities are pretty good and allow us to publish and share information well among restrited user groups.

Thank you guys,
