Greetings! We use mvnForum for an intranet site at Fortis, a Global Fortune 100 company. This is a message board used by our internal I.T. department. We had minimal funding for this project, so we turned to the open-source market to find something that would make a good message board AND that would run on our Java-based infrastructure. After evaluating several candidates, we chose mvnForum. We installed it and started using it about a month ago. It's getting increasingly heavy use among the developers in I.T., and everyone loves it. Naturally we have e-mail, instant messaging, and other kinds of collaboration tools we use, but we've never had a good discussion board until now, where all the developers can share tricks and tips and ideas with each other across the company. I think mvnForum has tremendous potential given what it has accomplished in less than a 1.0.0 release! If they can get a few more top-notch developers on-board to help the coding efforts, they could turn this into the best message board software out there. Sorry I can't give you a link to our site. Being an intra-net site, it's locked away behind several firewalls and lots of security. Robert Pappas Lead Developer Fortis Inc. - USA |

Sup ya'll, Well like everyone else that has written a testimonial, my site(s) that use mvnForum are still in testing or are of a private nature. However that shouldn't stop me from singing the praises of this wonderful software. I downloaded mvnForum initially to try and get a better handle on programming projects that I was collaborating on with a group of people. I had looked around and found mvnForum which was (at the time - this was at Beta 2) fairly useful. More importantly it was in JSP which our whole project was going to be built with. Meaning I could steal any good code if I needed to. I ended up not stealing any code (didn't need to) but after version rc1 came out the use of the forum went up significantly. It truly allowed for all of the geographically seperated contributors to communicate ideas and solutions while actually keeping a record of everything. Wonderful. We still use it and are eagerly awaiting the next revisions. After having such good luck with the program for development use, I decided to use it again in my personal life. Planning a wedding is always hard, but when both sets of parents have divorced and remarried and moved out of state - coordinating and sharing information was a freakin' nightmare. So I set up a forum especially for that - and it's worked really well. It didn't work as well as the one meant for knowledgable computer people. My grandmother can't seem to figure out how to post, but she can get to it and read everyone elses posts - and my mom is now a forum pro so I call that a win too! I'm now looking into using it for a neighborhood association. If it ends up taking off, I'll be sure to let you know. ---------------------------------------- [Edit 1 times, last edit by Smokinbudda at Aug 28, 2003 10:22:23 PM] |

Dear All, The mvnForum, for myself, I think this is the good common practice that I known. For person who started to learn java, this is a good study case. For webmaster, it's easy to deploy, manage, and customize. For developer, mvnForum have a good solution (forum is core package, and language is plug-in...) and OPENSOURCE. Certainly, I can say that thing because I'm used to be the java newbie, developer and webmaster. I have deploy mvnForum on my site. Unfortunately, I have notime to manage and mofily it. For mvnForum Developers, I would like to say "CONGRAGULATION!! GOOD JOB!!" Duy Nguyen Software Developer M.C.C Inc. Co., Japan http://www.saigonstyle.com |

Hi there, I'm still studying mvnforum for implementation of a forum in the Intranet of my company. I found all functions I needed, now I'm translating the Admin site, online help and Faq in italian, as request by department where I work. This is a quite good forum solution and you guys have all my appreciation about. Today I downloaded the new RC3-dev to see if you implemented something new about moderation in which I'm deeply interest. Keep going on !
