Retrieving Data

Hi,

My org is going to decommission the server whr mvnforum is now deployed and we do not know as yet when it will be made available on a different server. This includes the DB server too. I need to retrieve all the data that is existing today including the attachments and stuff. Please let me know how this can be done.

TIA,
Nimish

Re: Retrieving Data

If not mistaken, all of tables in mvnforum have a default-field: "CreationDate" which is data created real time. In my opinion, you can retrieve data based on this field.

Re: Retrieving Data

What version of mvnForum, OS and database server you are running?

Generally to migrate from one server to another server, you need:

- Use the backup tool of your database server to backup database.

- Backup folder mvnForumHome

- Backup folder mvnplugindata in your context

- Backup all of your context for reference later.

Re: Retrieving Data

We are running mvnForum 1.0.0 RC4 Update 2 on a unix box. The database is Oracle.

I was thinking more on the lines of probably executing a query or something like that and extract all the data onto a spreadsheet or word doc or something like that. Is that possible? At this point we are not even sure if they will use mvnforum again.

Re: Retrieving Data

I guess Oracle have a tool that help you backup all of your database, and you also need to backup mvnForumHome and your context. With these backup files, you could restore it later.
